NEHA

The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) offers the Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) credential, the Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS), and the Certified Installer of Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (CIOWTS) through its test vendor the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals/Environmental Health Testing (NRFSP/EHT).

These marks of distinction assist both employers and the credentialed individual. Employers can be confident that a credentialed employee has acquired the knowledge necessary to competently perform their duties. Credentialed individuals may find positions easier to obtain, and may increase their earnings.

Certification Application & Scheduling Information

Application information

Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:

  1. Applied for the credential through NEHA
  2. Paid all corresponding fees to NEHA
  3. Been notified by NEHA of your eligibility to sit for the examination

Scheduling

NEHA will notify the individual after the application has been processed, which can take four to six weeks, of their eligibility status. If an individual is approved to test he/she will be sent an authorization letter by NEHA. Once you have received this authorization letter, you may schedule.

NEHA exams are coordinated through Environmental Health Testing (EHT). Be sure to recognize EHT as a client when registering. When creating your Pearson VUE web account, you will be asked to provide your EHT ID. This ID is created by Pearson VUE. If you are a first-time test-taker, you will not yet have an EHT ID and you should leave this field blank.

Be sure of your exam date when scheduling. A $20 cancellation/reschedule fee applies to all cancelled or rescheduled exam dates.

Please schedule your examination online through the Pearson VUE website. If you choose to schedule by phone an additional fee of $10 will apply.
